Fruits and Vegetables...

2007-03-16 12:14:32 · answer #1 · answered by Juliette 6 · 0 1

Beans and rice with vegetables. The beans and rice comprise a complete vegetarian amino-acid (protein) profile, with little fat, and the vegetables comprise the carbohydrate portion.

I spend approxiametely $20 Can. which allows me to eat for 4-5 days, 3 x's a day for as little as 1.25 a meal. I also add herbs and spices to the mix, as well as different types of sauces.

Im not advocating the 'vegan' lifestyle, yet it has allowed me to lose substantial weight - along with exercise - in a short period of time. I'll eat that way for 4-5 days then celebrate with a day of 'tasty mammal flesh' and/or whatever. You can save a lot of money this way eating good foods, and lose weight as well (with exercise).

Fruits are good too, but only first thing in the morning, and never with any other type of food (proteins, carbs and fats), according to the principles of proper food combing as outlined in the book 'Fit for Life' by Harvey and Marillyn Diamond.

You can loose a kilo a week easy without exercise with the following, and reduces hunger pangs, and brings you back to a normal weight, while focusing on low GI.
> Plenty of water, no sugar, no white bread.
> Breakfast : banana, skim milk, qtr tsp honey milk shake
Coffee (no sugar)
> Mid Morning : Small mixture of nuts, saltanas, carrots sticks
> Lunch : Mixed salad, lettuce, olives, cucumber, cheese, smoked salmon or chicken pieces
> Afternoon : Apple, rest of nuts, cup of tea (no sugar)
> While making dinner : Small amount of cheese, olives, 5 rice crackers, 1 small glass of wine
> Dinner : Steak, Chicken or fish, small amount of sweet potato, OR corn, OR pumpkin, green vegetables, some carrot
> Dessert : 2 spoonpulls of tinned fruit, and small yogurt

The secret :
= Snack on small cheese, and small crackers, makes dinner feel fulle rin your tummy. You will sleep better too.
= STAY AWAY from sugar, morning cereals, white bread, white rice, white potato, cookies, cakes, icecream, lollies
= Stay busy, and snack on apple, nuts, 2 coffees in the morning, and a tea at night keeps away hunger pangs.
= the banana gives you energy, and goodness in the mornng, while the coffee wakes you up, and kick starts metab.

I feel more energy than I have ever felt before, have a post baby body at 76 kgs, and went down to 67 kgs in 2 months, and have kept it off for 2 years. Bread now gives me a headache, so I limit it to 1 slice fo toast every 2nd morn, or a salad sandwhich 2 times a week, or icecream and wafers every sat night.

The key is staying away from wheat, and sugar, and white potato.

if you can do this, you will not believe the change in your personality, sex life, skin tone, size, positive attitude, brain power, energy, and the length of your life.

After the first week - it is so damn easy. I have never looked back - only to take my larger clothes to St Vinnies op shop.

You know you can do it.

If you get time to go walking in the mornng or afternoon, then that will speed up the process by 20 %

There are alot of low fat/low calorie products out there these days. Here's just a few things I buy...

100 calorie Thomas English muffins (I use them to make little english muffin pizzas with Kraft Free Shredded cheddar cheese,a couple of mushroom slices, and a tablespoon or two of low calorie pizza sauce- most are about 30 calories or so per serving..... these can also be used to make little breakfast sandwiches filled with scrambled eggs or eggbeaters with a slice of reduced fat cheese)

100 calorie microwave popcorn (great for a snack- it makes alot)

Ruffles Light wavy potato chips (serving size is 17 chips and only has 70 calories per serving....great for a crunchy snack fix..)

Fat Free soft tortillas (can be used to make quesadillas with fat-free or reduced fat shredded cheese....I also make reduced fat breakfast burritos with these by filling them with Southwestern style eggbeaters-I scramble them- and add a little bit of Ore-Ida Peppers and Onions Hashbrowns- these have around 90 calories per serving size- and put a little bit of picante sauce on top....you could even add some fat-free sour cream if you like)

Fruit and vegetables are usually pretty cheap and healthy as well. Cereal in the mornings, with skim milk I guess.

Eat vegan (no meat)
Eat raw food (you need less food because you absorb more nutrients from what you eat) but do your homework on this one as some things need a little bit of cooking.
