Autism is one of the many ways people can be. It is not a disease any more than being tall or short or black or white is a disease. It is true that autistics have various difficulties in life, but these difficulties can be addressed without thinking of autism as a "disease" to be "cured". As human consciousness evolves past its current tipping points, autism is an experiment that will generate certain traits that will be necessary to our survival. Not every experiment is successful, and not all traits will be beneficial. But this is no time to abort the experiemnt by trying to "cure" autism.

Many people suffer with ASD. Suicide is common. Medical issues are common. 1 out of 3 have seizures. Of course people with ASD should be respected, but tell me how to send my ASD child with epilepsy out into the world when she is an adult? I would like to see her get help. We must not be naive and buy into the Hollywood version of reality and think everything will be fine. How will my child be fine if she will be prey to bad people when I am not here to protect her? I don't see what is wrong in wishing for someone's independence.

I wish we could cure ignorance about autism. The easiest way to make a difference is to respect autistic individuals.

Please avoid this event. It is just as bigoted as an event to change black people into white people.

I am autistic, not diseased. This group aims to eradicate people like me. Please do not support it.
