...I eat meat tomorrow!

I guess I might as well just go around killing people and stealing because, who cares right? Eating meat on a Friday during lent means I'm goin to hell anyway right? (heavy sarcasm) <-- parentheses for my peeps in Kansas who don't know what sarcasm is.

How retarded are the people that go through this ritual every year?

It is a ritual of honoring our Lord's sacrifice. No the world won't end, we do it to honor Him and all the others who died for our religion.
It is a way we show them respect and offer up for the decreased members of our church.

Did you give up meat for lent? If so, the world won't end if you eat it, but God will wonder why the hell you decided to give up meat in order to get to know Him better if you go back on your promise and eat meat. However, based on the rest of your question, my guess is you didn't give up anything for lent anyways, so what does it matter to you what I just said, because you obviously don't care about anyone but yourself. So, based on what I just said, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if you started stealing and killing others because you obviously only care about yourself anyways, so what does it matter to you if someone else dies or someone doesn't get paid at a store for stuff for sale on their shelves? I can tell you this, the people that go through this ritual of lent every year are nowhere near as retarded as you are for what you have just said. Maybe next time you should actually ask a question instead of make a smartass comment, with no logical bearing whatsoever, against any religious practices whatsoever.

Christian do it to practice discipline, and become closer to God through that. Most if not all religions practice some sort of fasting, Muslims don't eat during the day during Ramadan. However everyone doesn't have to participate, it is a far greater crime to waste meat by not eating it on Friday. I don't get it, there are many vegans, vegetarians that don't eat meat for a lifetime, so what's your problem?

Hey! I'm going through this "ritual" every year. FYI I just ate a pizza with sausage in it. You don't have to give up food items for lent. I can't say certain things, I gave them up for lent. So hold back your heavy sarcasm and make way for people who want to practice their religion.

Jerse: You are focusing too much on the physical aspect of Lent. The purpose of Lent is to provide a means where Christians take a "spiritual" inventory of his or her relationship with God, the Father, through Jesus Christ, during this time of year, each year. A type of Spring-time, spiritual , spring cleaning, you might say. Christians are people too and get caught up in the daily, hustle and bustle of society - they need reminders too of their commitment to their Calling.

So you're opposed to exercises in self-control and donations to the starving children of the world?
Battle on, buddy. How could those millions of Christians be so stupid as to cut back on their grocery bills and donate the remainder to eastern European orphanages?

In case you didn't realize, Christian theologians have always maintained that the primary purpose of Lent is to generate charitible donations.

By the way, I'm from Kansas.

Hmmm...bashing other's beliefs, disguised as a question. Very clever! You should work for a politician or something. You've got a great career ahead! (heavy sarcasm)
