Guess I'm not "everyone." I don't fear God. I respect and admire Him. I recognize He knows more than I do and wants what's best for me. I am amazed by the wonders He has created and the love He has even for people that reject Him. He's the best friend I've every known.

We fear the Lord not so that He will like us more.. He loves us unconditionally..

We fear Him because we want to show Him how much we love Him.

And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

Psalm 19:9

Psalm 111:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 9:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
