I used the term "flip" 'cause I can't think of any other way to say it. I rent my home but I want to make some changes to it. Nothing to drastic like ripping out walls or cupboards. But I want to change the feel of my home. You walk into and feel akward. I've tried new certains and pictures and little stuff like that. I've even bought new sofa's and nothing worked. I want to get that homey feeling when I walk in. I want people to feel compfortable when they visit. But I don't want them to feel like they can't touch anything. Any idea's on how to accomplish this without breaking the bank???

Sorry I probably should have mentioned this. I did ask my landlord about it and she said that I couldn't paint, wallpaper, or mess with the floors. There hardwood so I wouldn't mess with them anyway. : )

Wall appliques are a cheap way to spruce up any space, any way you want it. I'm currently working on a faux wallpaper using "antique" rose appliques with a centerpiece collage.

They are usually the "Wet and Stick" type deal, and aren't paint, or wallpaper. They come in a great variety, to include sea side scenes and cartoon frog themes.

For smaller appliques, I've found that it's best to ignore the directions for soaking, and just wet the wall down and stick the dry applique in place. I had Way less problems that way.

Hope that helps some, and just to give you a quick idea of what is available, I'm throwing in a link for you to browse.

Many landlords will allow their renters to make changes to a home they are living in - but just as many won't. Make sure you have your landlords permission before you do anything at all to a rented home. If you have permission you could paint, wallpaper, add shelving and corner units. Again, with permission, you could change carpet to hardwood or vice-versa. If the house is in need of some updating your landlord may agree to foot the bill for materials. Good luck and enjoy your home.
