My mother and stepfather are looking for a puppy for our new house that we are moving into the end of March. There is a fenced in yard for the puppy to run. If anyone has any info on free puppies in Illinois, preferably Northern, please contact me!

It is going to be difficult to find a dog for free. You could go to the city pound or a shelter and adopt a dog for a minimal charge ($55 to $75) and the dogs from those places come up to date on shots, micro-chipped and spayed or neutered.

I know you want a FREE puppy, but even after you get a puppy it will be costly to get vaccinations and a spay or neuter. Have you thought about adopting a puppy from the pound? You will save alot of money in the end because these puppies will have their shots and the spay or neuter will be a much cheaper price. Besides, you'll save a life.

Unless you place an ad in the paper asking if anyone's seeking a home for a puppy, but I would consider getting a puppy from a reputable breeder so that you are getting a healthy dog since breeders won't sell or give away a dog if the animal isnt suitable for a home.

look for a breeder!! a free puppy is NEVER a free puppy...theres vet bills and things to pay, especially if they puppy is not healthy(ie comes from a puppy mill)

at least with a breeder it may cost more but you get a gaurentee on his health, and you wouldnt be supporting puppy mills or Back yard breeders(which are baaaad news)

if you must get a free puppy...go to someones house to get it....someone whos got 1 dog(momma dog) and make sure you see her and where the puppies live. if the person says you cant see her, the place she and the pups live...and all the other puppies...run dont walk out of there,

good luck and enjoy your new pupper

You could try checking out petstores on the weekends and seeing if they have fliers up. Or look in the paper. There really isn't a such thing as a "free" puppy though because there is food, leashes, collars, vet bills...etc............
