Sometimes the way a child is conceived is wrong...once the child is there, it is right. This child may bring you or someone else great joy. If one is truly sorry and asks God for forgiveness then God takes it, tosses it as far as the East is from the West and remembers it no more. If you come back 5 minutes later and ask Him, please forgive me for so n so, He would answer, "Forgive you for what?", because it is already gone. God is love and my belief tells me that on Resurrection morning many little babies will be placed back in their mother's arms. Have a good one....Mmm

To me abortion isn't a sin if the pregnancy is deemed to be life threatening and there isn't any other recourse to protect both of you. A child is Innocent and becomes a second victim by both parties. Some women will have miscarriages so this wouldn't make it a sin unless it was done some way intentionally. The idea to me that a using a woman's eggs or disposing of them during research isn't a sin unless they created life and destroyed it. As to what point a fetus is alive and aware is debatable. There would be many things which would seem to be detestable and an abomination to God. There are far more many things knowingly done in this world which are even worse. An Innocent in Gods hands some might say is better off than born into a world of suffering and sin.

I personally think it is wrong no matter what unless it is going to kill the mother or the baby is going to be morn with a terminal illness, but i can see how it could maybe be a little more acceptable if the mother was raped. I don't believe the bible addresses this subject tho because i don't believe they had abortions then. So if you want to know how the christian in you community feel about the subject then talk to a few of the preachers in you neighborhood.

I completely agree that the circumstance makes the decision harder. But at the core, the abortion is the same either way. The baby didn't rape the mother; but the baby is the one who is going to have to be cruelly and painfully killed in a hopeless attempt to eradicate the problem of the would-be mother.

No way am I saying women in this sad situation don't deserve extra compassion - they definitely do. Abortion may even be the lesser of evils in certain rare cases. But to use these "hard cases" as a general basis for abortion on demand throughout the entire 9 months of pregnancy is not only foolish, but a great sin in itself. Read the last 2 verses of Romans chapter 1.

In absolute terms, yes. It begs the question: would it be better if she were raped by someone she did know? Would it be better if she weren't raped, but had sex with someone she barely knew? The issue for many Christians is not under what circumstances she became pregnant, but that she IS pregnant. As sins go, though, this one is no worse or better than any other forgiveable sin. And, God knows, we all sin.

I don't know if I'd use the "sin" language but abortion is always wrong. There are laws against murder of any kind, except in regards to a baby in it's own mother's womb. Your husband could beat you for 20 years and if you killed him, you would be tried for murder. The conditions of the pregnancy are irrelevant, especially since there are agencies and childless couples that would be more than happy to take the baby off the woman's hands if she didn't want it. The reason women have abortions are very, very, rarely because they are raped. They have them because of the public shame of an unwanted pregnancy and the inconvenience of the nine month gestation period.

I used to think that abortion by a raped woman was okay. And then I changed my view - after almost being raped.

Adoption is always an answer. No one should expect a woman to raise a child from a rape if it is emotionally impossible for her. But that doesn't mean that the child should suffer because of someone else's actions. Violence is not inhereted, it is taught. This child is not going to grow up to be a rapist unless that is taught.

Also - a friend of mine was raped, and had the baby. She raised her son from this rape. And she loves him dearly. She almost aborted - but didn't. And is glad she didn't. She believes that he is a precious gift from God - something beautiful that came from something evil.

I think abortion should be limited to cases of rape or incest, or when the mother's life is in danger, or if the fetus has serious defects which will not allow it to live past delivery. In other words, it isn't a sin to abort in the above cases. Rather, I think the sin is telling the woman she is sinning.

# What about a woman who’s been raped or a victim of incest? In the case of rape or incest, there are two victims: the mother and the baby. Studies have shown that when a woman feels as if abortion is her only option and follows through with it, she often later feels as if she was not only a victim in the rape but that she in return victimized her child. Meanwhile, mothers who found support to carry their children to term and then either parent or place the child for adoption, felt they’d turned a big negative into a positive. We need to support both victims in these situations.

Yup, doesn't matter why. James Robison is a product of rape and is the founder of Life Outreach International which feeds and ministers to thousands of people all over the world, I'm sure there are many with full stomaches that are thankful he was allowed to live.
