It takes a lot of practice. I started getting interested in gymnastics when I was 5, and I've been doing it ever since. A cartwheel is the first thing I taught myself. You should lift 3-8 lb. dumbells and practice everyday.

With cartwheels you aren't lifting your body with your arms. Your arms are locked out so the muscles aren't being used much. A handstand on the other hand isn't easy to do. Your problem might be that your shoulders/triceps aren't strong enough. Press some weights over your head on a regular basis to help get stronger in that area. You can also work on some pushups. Good luck!

You may actually not be kicking hard enough. Make sure your hands are perpendicular to your body and kick your back leg fairly hard to get yourself over. The first few times you do it, you might actually kick yourself completely over and land on your bottom, but that is completely normal. Your arms don't have to be that strong, you shouldn't be on them long.

cartwheels have more to do with your coordination than arm stregth. keep trying.
