It deprives us of things we might have used as resources!
Imagine: having a roast do-do bird instead of these overbred turkeys on thanksgiving!
Can't do it, shame, because those birds were exterminated.

I have wondered about this too, as if anyone would care if such extremely dangerous animals like crocodiles were extinct. If you want to see what a dinosaur looks like, all you have to do is go look at a crocodile or monitor lizards, or elephant. Animals like those are what's left over from the dinoasaur age.
I think most of it has to do with that fact we're losing natural resources left and right. The rain forest is being depleted by acres and acres every year as we write. It's sad, cause many undiscovred benefits from plant and animal species will be lost forever. Our affluenza inflicted, greedy, corrupt, environmentally wasteful savage modern societies don't seem to care.

we live in a closed interrelated system .
they once sprayed for mosquitos on the banks of the Daunaube ,and the result was that all life in the woods disapeared ,,a link had been remved from the food chain with drastic results ,birds and froggs ate mosquitos and somebodyelse eats frogs and so on.
all life is connected through the medium of water and 99 molecules out of a hundred ,in most living things is water .
animals `plants ,and us
and all of this water has been finely tuned by Gaia .
into a collection of ecosystems all interrelated and depending on each other
animals and plants are components of our environment which is an environment fit for human occupation,
mess with any of it and we will have to cope with the effects ,
maybe not instantly but eventually always
the biomass we need to produce the atmosphere oxygen, organic material, food ,climate and water .
and the animals are agents of the biomass (they work for nature)
