I went to prom last year with my gf and it wasn't that great. I mean I had a great time, but it was overrated. The music sucked and half the people were drunk. So what's the deal. Should this big waste of money be considered a once in a lifetime experience?

because it's every girl's dream to go to prom with their boyfriends.. it's just a special night! i know what you mean though about dances being overrated (although i can't say that about prom because i've never been, but i would imagine that would be too..) but it's just one of those experiences to Say you've done it... ya know.. for the memory and just an event everyone Wants to just Experience.

It's only loved so much by the people who are obnoxious drunks who love bad music, which sadly is about half the people in high school. I really dreaded my high school formals. They're a pain in the neck, and they're expensive -- the tickets, the limo, the dress, the shoes, the hairdo! I had a massive headache at the proms I attended. I'd much rather get my good friends together and go bowling or something fun like that. Loud, dressy occasions are not for me at all.

No don't waste your money on a prom ticket and if you are senior this is your lifetime experience of your last prom time.

I didnt know it was that bad!!! I think teens just like to party and land themselves into a big deal of trouble and go wild!!! I thought it was a nice dance with great music, and everyone acts mature (not getting drunk) lol.

I agree with u. I don't think it is that big of a deal. It might just be cause no one has ever asked me to prom, but I just don't think it's that big of a deal. Unless u have a date with someone.

I think proms a big deal to the ladies (kinda like weddings) and since guys are hoping to get laid that night they have to play along. the only reason I cared about prom was I wanted to get laid but unfortunatley for me my date was on the rag.....I got wasted and passed out!

I think it can be crazy with how much kids spend on it now days. It should be about hanging out with friends and goofing off. Don't buy into all the money and ignore the kids drinking. Just have a good time with your date and your friends. If you don't go, you will always wonder what it would be like the rest of your life.

Sorry that it was bad for you.
I find that fun people make their own fun & don't rely on outside influences to determine whether or not they have a good time.

People with a sour disposition tend to see the bad in everything even during the best of times.

Which type of person do you want to be?

Its just a big party with plenty of dancing. Your GF should like it more than you should.
