I think Melanie is a really pretty name. It also makes me think of a Melanie I used to know, so perhaps that's where the good feeling comes from. But it's really nice, and not as common as others. I like it.

I remember in grade school that Heidi and Melanie were best friends. I never could get between them enough to really be accepted. My most memorable moment is when they both came back to school with big welts/red marks/ and swollen skin areas on the back of their neck. The teacher freaked and asked what happened - the 2 of them had taken their kite strings and rubbed them back and forth across their necks 100X each. Hope I explained it so it made sense - anyway, I no longer cared so much about being their friend.
That is my thought when I hear the name Melanie - - - - this was over 20 yrs ago -- holy.... : )

I have a friend named Melanie and everyone calls her Mel. I call her Melanie because I like the name.

I like melanie, it's a pretty name. But I knew a mean Melanie in high school and she was a cheerleader, so I can't help but think of like...a pretty but prissy girl. Something like that.

I really like the name. I played a girl named Melanie in a movie I was in and she was an energetic girl who loved to party. So yeah, your name is awesome.

Melanie is a beautiful name but it is one of those names, at least if I were you, I wouldn't shorten to "Mel." But I guess that's gonna happen. Oh well, Mel, what's in a name. It's you that counts. Everytime I tell someone my name they want to know if that's spelled with a "C" or with a "K". Whatever.

Melanie...reminds me of this one girl that lived down my street once. We were really good friends but she moved away and I haven't heard from her since. Besides that, Melanie is a pretty cool name.
And...were you, by any chance, in gymnastics at some point?

Melanie sounds like a one of a kind name. i think if i had a daughter i think that name would be suitable for her. i wish i had a name like that. YOU ARE BLESSED WITH THAT NAME
