Considering that mice are fairly inexpensive, is it worth the effort to try to splice the cable?

I have two wireless mice, but they go through batteries too quickly, especially the Kensington Laser. I finally bought rechargeable batteries, but I have to recharge them every two weeks. The wired one he chewed through is an optical that only cost $12...but it really annoys me to have to buy yet another one.

I also have a MyBook Essential 500 Gb external HD - it has no software for doing backups. Will Bounceback Express work with it? Or is there some freeware that can do incremental backups? It's on a PC duo running XP pro

LOL. some funny answers - but if I wanted help with the dog's behaviour, I could have posted this on the pet board, eh?

Actually, I was hoping for advice on the backup software, and maybe about the mouse - why does the lazer mouse use so much power, and is there any point in trying to splice back the cable that was chewed through.

Hmm..maybe I should go to the pet board; now that I think about it, he chewed through the power cord to a laptop, and another mouse...naah. Mostly I need suggestions for HD Back-up software.

Please.

Sounds like you need to get your dog some chew toys. Get several ranging from soft to tough.
For your wireless mouse, get rechargeable batteries and a charger.
Try putting your drive on a stand and keep cables up off the floor.
