I also wear dentures and use denture adhesive. What could be causing this?

Your taste buds are most likely the culprit. It will disappear once your buds are used to the non smoking factor. However if it's not going away it could be your adhesive. Have you used it before or is it a new product?
There could be something in it like latex that causes an allergic reaction on your tongue. Check it out.

your body is gradually getting it,s senses back you should find that given time the effects of the sensitivity wear down.if you find that it is still bad in another couple of weeks go see your doctor for a check up.

Your taste buds are returning. When you smoke you can't smell and taste as what other people who don't smoke can.
