They're right; LA is filled with Baptist churches, and all other kinds of churches, as well. Since the area is so large, you'll probably have to attend one of the Baptist churches close to where you choose to live.

But, if you just want to go around checking out Baptist churches, try Trinity Baptist at 10th and California streets in Santa Monica. It has a beautiful sanctuary which was seen in in the Steve Martin movie, "Father of the Bride" in the 1990's. (They used a different church for the exterior shots, but the interior scenes were done at Trinity Baptist. If you watch the movie carefully, you'll realize that 2 churches had to have been used. Trinity Baptist's ceiling are tall, lending a stately and grandiose feeling to the sanctuary. The church used in the exterior shot is much shorter.)

There are tons of Baptist churches in LA. I went to one with a friend down in the South Bay and it was nice. Forgot the name. It was off Manhattan Beach Blvd somewhere.

jake is right.

the public perception is that LA is a land of Godless heathens. nothing could be further from the truth

we are filthy with churches, synagogues, mosques, buddist temples, not to mention Scientologists.

As you minister is their is a branch of your particular faith in the area and see if he will write a letter of introduction.
