There are many different ways of dealing with and treating depression. Each individual is unique so there is no black-and-white answer. You may want to try change in diet and exercise. Get your endorphins flowing. Talking to friends and family, arranging to meet with a therapist or you could talk to your health care provider about trying medication therapy. Good luck.

Hello "Follow the light". Depression is a serious and real illness that affects a large part of worlds population. You are not alone. The scientific explanation is that the person neurotrasmiters are not functioning properly. The spiritual explanation is that the person has a spirit attached. They both cause this feelings of worthlessness, lack of energy, lack of concentration, etc. It will be very useful that you seek professional help. The doctor can diagnose you and prescribe meds. The medicines will diminish your symptoms. Meanwhile you should talk to the doctor about your childhood, teenage years. You will find a lot of things about yourself. You are definitely a deep person. I think depression affects deep people. It is so important always to ask oneself why are we in this world. Above all you have to know that we all have a task in this world. Only that we do not know it. If you pray and listen to God you will find your path and you will find the meaning of life. Life is so beautiful. After a dark day always comes a light day. As you said you have a great family. My prayers are with you. Argentox2@yahoo.com

I have fought with the same things I have found that talking to someone with the same problems helps. I have some friends that have gone throught the same thing but we usually are at different times. The other thing that helps is that we have started to do crafts or girls nights out so that we start to focus on the positives. If this still doesn't help we encourage each other to seek medical help and we support each other with this. Sometimes finding a mental health support group is great.

The best way is to see a professional. What you have may be something other than depression. It could even just be anxiety or as simple as you don't get enough sleep. Talk to your doctor. If you are ininsured or can't afford a doctor, then try meditation, diet and exercise, though these only work so much. An herbal remedy that sometimes works is something called Sam-E.

Try seeking the Holy Spirit for help--He is one of the most reliable sources I've ever found when I'm down and out.
Even being a Christian, I've fought with depression many times in life, most of them in my youth. Every time, when I go to the Lord and cry out to Him to help me, He's always faithful to give me a little ray of hope (which just blossoms from there).
Aside from praying, a journal has always been a really big help to me. I'm a very analytical person by nature, so writing things down to "get them out of my head", so to speak, is a good tool for me. If you're at all the same way, I would suggest doing that. At least then, you're able to tangibly see what you're feeling, and let it go from there.
I'll be keeping you in my prayers. Blessings to you. :)

Get good nutrition and exercises.

Aerobic exercises like walking swimming, running. biking. all release the good chemicals in your brain.

Also, You may have SAD if it comes on you only certain times of year. Special lights are recommended for that. And you can take St. Johns Wort capsules which are proven to help with mild cases of depression.

Don't let it get to out of control though.

You may or may not have clinical depression. First, I would suggest keeping a journal of what you eat, how many hours you sleep, what exercise you do, and any stress factors that affect you. Make a note of whenever you feel depressed and see if that correlates with diet, sleep, etc. If you see that connection, you will be able to remedy this yourself. If your depression does not seem related to any of these, you may have clinical depression. If so, treatment may include medication and/or therapy.

tanning salon and exercise.try it!!!
it sounds like you could have depression- which i think should be called "apathy" because its not necessarily sadness. sometimes it's just not giving a care about anything.
a doctor will give you anti-depressants, which work when taken correctly. i've taken them off/on 15 years. you get tired of taking medicines, though. i've been off the whole winter which is usually the WORST time. i made it by exercising everyday whether i want to or not, and going to the tanning booth- the light really helps. if youever think of harming yourself, you should tell someone and go see a professional.
take care!

Exercise is huge in fighting depression. Eating healthy, seriously is huge too.

You may also want to make sure that you are taking vitamins. Sometimes our hormonal balance from serotonin to cortisol is off and can turn mildly stressful situations into something major.

Remember depression is usually anger turned inward. So explore what you are angry about. If nothing, I would say it is a vitamin deficiency
