Be well groomed. There is nothing that detracts from a man's appearance than looking slovenly.
Either be totally clean shaven or keep facial hair trimmed. Beards, mustaches, soul patches, etc. look SO MUCH BETTER when they are trimmed up and even. (unless you MEANT to look like Grizzly Adams. yuck)
Find a men's clothing shop that has a tailor and invest the money in a nice suit or a few pair of nice slacks that are cut to fit your frame properly. have them help with shirts and ties that can really bring the outfit all together.
Polish your shoes!! sharp dressed men attract attention BECAUSE they look sharp.
Be confident of what you can offer the world and what you can offer a woman. BE A MAN. Wimpy attitudes are unnattractive.
stand up straight and look the world right in the eye.
cologne is a plus along with all other mens toiletries but remember that you want to make a nice impression, not knock people down with your fragrance. again, a person at the fragrance counter at a better store can help on this one.

it somewhat is a outstanding question. i ask your self that too. yet, i don't think of shallowness in a woman is somewhat important to a guy, because purely potential the guy can enhance her shallowness for her, by using telling her:you're appealing, i admire you're character.. etc.

A great haircut... sometimes a rough light stubble .....but mix it up with clean shaven ....... make sure your clothes fit your body ...those baggy pants are not hot ..ask any woman.... being clean ...and smell good.........in addition to looks.....talk easy ... not too fast or too slow ...... and be charming with lots of compliments.....

Be very clean with your body, wear lots of deoderant, keep your hair washed, make sure your breath is fresh, smile lots and lots and just be yourself!
