Absolutely no point! If there is no afterlife then there wont be any need for anyone to believe in anything! Furthermore if there was no afterlife and if less people believed in it, the world would be a very bad place to live in the now! Every religion tells you about reward and punishment afterlife e.g christianity, judaism and islam have the heaven and hell concept while other religions like hinduism etc believe in karma i.e when you are reborn if u had done bad deeds in your previous life you will be converted into an animal while if u did good deeds you will be human again! Studying religion will help you find the answers! take it easy God is always there for you!

Depends on what kind of afterlife we are talking about here.

Some believe in reincarnation - and that when a soul dies it immediately returns to earth. No off time, no time with God. No nothing in the spirit world.

Others also believe that once you die there is no afterlife, but a return to the earth and her energies. So there is no conscious afterlife - you become a tree, or your arm becomes part of a river etc.

Then there are others who believe that you die and that's it. There's nothing special and you decay in the ground. I have sadly enough met Jews who even believe this. The belief comes from thinking that you are finite and there is no soul. This earth is self sustaining - and everything on it lives and dies and is confined to it.

I would disagree that it makes God finite in any way. Instead it makes humans very mortal, very finite and for the last view, a belief in God rather hopeless and morbid.

um, that question has a diffrent answer depending on how you look at it. believing in god and no afterlife like reincarnation or something is the whole point. That's the way it works. But to believe in no afterlife your living for a god that won't give you a reward for following him.

well I can't see the point of believing in God,if I didn't believe in a afterlife. My bible tells me He rose from the dead and has gone to prepare a place for all who are saved.I also understand that I am to be judged and give account for my life .The chapter of Rev. is great to read for answering your question.

i don't think of there is any purpose element of residing. We undertake or are given our own applications as we conflict by using existence, regardless of the reality that we don't think of of them in those words, nor are they continuously planned or desperate consciously. My applications contain looking after my spouse, toddler, mothers and fathers, and (the final 2 from a distance). as properly as that, I even have acquaintances and associates, and my job. I shop myself in good condition by using going to the gymnasium quite a few situations a week; i'm oftentimes happy and get on with human beings, and prefer to think of I behave in direction of others with compassion and mutual appreciate. i've got been interior the forces and been a scout chief. That appears like a mouthful, and in all probability does not cover each and every thing. i'm oftentimes happy and excited approximately how my existence has became out, and seem forward to retiring in a pair of years (regardless of the reality that i don't in all probability sense sufficiently previous - according to risk i gets a ingredient-time job). character does not proceed to exist death; it somewhat is a function of the physique. in actuality, it does not even continuously final on an identical time as the physique lives. we can return to the way we've been earlier we've been conceived. And the molecules that made up our bodies would be recycled by using nature. If we've toddlers, then our genes persist in later generations. human beings we go away at the back of would be left with thoughts, emphasising the happy ones with a bit of luck, whilst they have come interior the path of the grieving technique. Heaven and Hell are mythical places. So, we can take convenience from understanding that we don't risk everlasting torment.

I believe souls are eternal because they are created in God's image, so they they exist either with God or satan for eternity. so to believe in a eternal God without afterlife to me makes no sense.
But hey will all find out some day huh.

I believe in both actually. By believing in God, I know that "after this life" I'm going to heaven to be with God, and walk on streets of gold and live in a mansion he made for me.
