I recently was given "The Secret" DVD, and put into practice what it talks about, and have had many amazing things change for the better in my life. Does anyone have stories of it working in their life, or not working? Any thoughts on this???

Oh really? Please tell us. I'd especially like to hear about anything that couldn't possibly have happened anyway.

Apologize for the length-

People sometimes feel the urge and need to buy something that is NEW and (ahhh) powerful to help get them on their way... Like most- it will prove "beneficial" for a while..your mind is on it and things will be brighter because of a new perspective gleaned. Maybe things would have been bright anyway.
..The people who market "The Secret" are very smart...This IS a re-packaged product...That does not mean it is not Beneficial -but it's contents only tell of the things that are already inside of us...that can manifested. Many Spiritual books describe this- and most are readily available...for little to no cost...

I make no apologies as I write this because there are so many- including you- the poster...who still by: " taking it into your own hands" put it in someone else's hands- along with your money -IE the people who are involved in mass marketing "the Secret." James Ray charges around $1000 to tell people with weaker minds what to do with their lives and how to do it...He fills forums.N Essence- this is what it is... Searchers and seeking for more is NOT bad. Yet...the determination to feed off of a already established truth and making it into a phenomenon is sheer marketing genius to people who are into trends and may be more desperate

I realize this could be over some or the majority's heads...However, I worked on and off in Advertising and Marketing...Some of the people I have worked with have included those on: Wall Street and also Tokyo's ad agencies.
It is all about the gimmick and drawing attention and how to move product. Please understand - we have a way of wrapping the mass public around our fingers- all to move product...and massive product as well.. I was a slave to the grind doing this and one day decided to quit. I didn't like the element of truth with the majority of lies. I was too nice of a person to be a shark and not face moral dilemas-so now I'm a free lance writer.
Anyway-
The majority or people who are going to be more prosperous (esp materially) when this fad is over is them...the same people that marketed it to You. There's a reason people say- Don't believe the Hype...these people have flaws just like you and I ...Some are true and honest..Some are fueled by greed...
You are still consumer. You buy their product. Then, you follow the Secret"- which is not a secret at all... See that - this whole thing is propaganda...The fact that humanity is so interested in knowing of the unknown IS the selling point...

Want to know the real secret? Again- This is information that is ingrained in each of us. These people are helping - those who need an extra boost and who may need a leader or two in their life to point them in the right direction.. I don't need this.. My life is pretty blessed without the book in my library. I know the laws of atraction but I also know the laws of balance...And it is normal to have ups and downs..Don't beat yourself up about it...It is what it is.

good question. i saw segment on the Oprah show and got the DVD last week. i was wondering whether or not it works for people other than the ones i saw on the show. i thought maybe it has not work for me because i am always stressed out and many bad things happened to me, you know. maybe one day when i am calm i will try to follow the theory of the Secret. From watching it i would say it makes alot of sense to me. I do believe the unvierse is has energy and i also believe the law of attraction. to better example this, there was an incident which took place when my sister and i went to get a reading from a psychic: my sister wanted a tarot reading and i wanted a palm reading. when the lady was reading for my sister, everything on the card was based on my feelings, my current situation and i thought for second she was reading through me; it was scary! my sister was telling her everything she was saying was wrong not realizing it wasn't really about her. when the lady was reading my palm, she was able to see that the previous reading was about. before i said anything the lady said, "you have stronger energy than your sister that why it reversed the reading". to make story short, she told me to wait outside and did a second reading for my sister. the point i want to make is that energy does exist and we apply it (focus)on the things we like to accomplish, i think it's possible the secret would work.

This is known as old school Metaphysics. Napoleon Hill (Think and Grow Rich) and Dr. Joseph Murphy (The Power of Your Subconscious Mind), are two of the most popular books on prosperity. Metaphysic thought comes from the New Testament, "If you had faith the size of a mustard seed".
So ignore the bible bangers.
To answer your question, yes I had a lot of bad situations turn out to be "not so bad", when they should have taken me out fast and hard. Metaphysics is a great thing to practice!!!

I can sum up the whole book in 3 seconds for you guys....

If you think negatively, bad things will happen to you. If you think positively, good things will happen to you. The Universe sends your way what you order from it.

I got the book as a joke gift from my mother in law, it reads like an infomercial and the concept is almost as old as mankind. The whole book is about 3 pages of material repeated in slightly different ways.

The best I can do for a story is that I laughed at what the MIL had to say in her letter and that made me feel happier.

I have learned over the years that I do not have to spend thousands of dollars to have a positive attitude, anyone can do the same thing the author of the secret has done, and it's making him rich, all you have to do is build up your vocabulary, and learn how to use it, and you could do the same thing, just remember it's in the vocabulary that's all, just look at all the positive attitude speakers over the years, it's their vocabulary that has made them rich, It has sure made my life vary comfortable.

i have been living these concepts for over a decade, life indeed becomes magical. Manifesting is certainly key in a happy productive life.
BUT.........WHAT THEY DIDNT TELL YOU !
"the secret" covered all aspects of manifesting except one, the most important one.
LET IT GO
let go of the expectation of the result,
expectation creates frustration.
trust what you are manifesting is win/win and let it go

I will personally not get this book. If because if I do it will say that I do not believe in God, and I believe in God. They tell you to imagine things to get what you want. And God tells you that "Faith is the evidence of Things not seen" that is why I will never get or buy or accept that book as a gift.
