Unripe plantains or we call them ''figs'' in the West Indies. :)

If you mean the really long green things that looks like banana, they even turn yellow but then turn a deep black purple which means they are ripe and ready to be cooked. Fried. These are called "plantains", a cousin to the banana. However, if you mean just regular green banana, where i am from we call that "fig". Which we cook in soups etc. However there is also another type of "fig" which is purple and looks very different from bananas or plaintain.

Plantains, they are great for all sorts of things. You can use their leaves for steaming and baking food in, you can fry them and make chips, you can just do so much stuff with them it's fantastic!

Plaintains......so good! But they aren't ready to be cooked and eaten until ripe, almost having a black skin.
