An adult should be drinking 1.5 - 2 liters of water everyday. This also the same amount you should be voiding everyday. Drinking too much water (more than 2 liters a day) could lead to water toxicity. Your body will not be able to process all of the water and you could end up with hypertension. Also, it is possible to die from water toxicity. If too much water is consumed and cannot be processed quickly enough it can be fatal. Too much of a good thing is not a good thing. It is said that drinking 8-10 (8 oz.) glasses a day for a year may help you shed a few pounds but the weightloss would not be significant. This doesn't mean that there aren't any real benefits from drinking enough water. Water is essential for many functions of the body. If you do not have enough water you will experience many health problems some of which are very serious. I hope this helps you.

You need to drink 64 ounces of water each day.

Some nutritionists insist that 80% of the country is walking around dehydrated. We drink too much coffee, tea, and sodas containing caffeine, which prompts the body to lose water.

Blood is 83% water; muscles are 75% water; the brain is 74% water; and bone is 22% water.

Water is necessary for your body to digest and absorb vitamins and nutrients. It also detoxifies the liver and kidneys, and carries away waste from the body. And when it comes to digestion . . . it's just not happening without water. Fiber alone cannot aid proper digestive function by itself. In fact, without water as its partner, good fiber goes bad, causing constipation and extreme discomfort.

If you're dehydrated, your blood is literally thicker, and your body has to work much harder to cause it to circulate. As a result, the brain becomes less active, it's hard to concentrate, your body feels fatigued, and you just "poop out."

Benefits of drinking water: Improves your energy; Increase Your Mental and Physical Performance; Remove Toxins & Waste Products from your body; Keep Skin Healthy and Glowing; Help You Lose Weight; Reduces Headaches and Dizziness; Allows for proper Digestion; Helps to keep you more Alkaline

The findings of a six-year study of more than 20,000 healthy men and women aged 38-100 in the May 1, 2002 American Journal of Epidemiology found that women who drank more than five glasses of water a day were 41% less likely to die from a heart attack during the study period than those who drank less than two glasses. The protective effect of water was even greater in men.

Water is a natural appetite suppressant, so developing a good water drinking habit can be a long-term aid in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight. Doctor F. Batmanghelidj MD, author of "Your Body's Many Cries For Water" says most times your “hunger” is your body asking for water – not food. It's also important to remember that when the body is dehydrated, fat cells get "rubbery" and cannot be easily metabolized. This means that it's harder to lose when you don't drink your water.

Anyways, hope that helped.
Bye Bye

They used to say drink 8 - 8oz glasses per day. Now I have read that there is no certain amount, drink when you are thirsty. You're body tells you when you need fluids by making you feel thirsty. It does not have to be just water. But no carbonated drinks will count. Tea counts as water so if you aren't too fond of drinking plain water, then drink tea.

it sure does help us to lose weight, because it flushes out the fat, and I have always heard the recommended amount is 6 to 8 glasses a day. Hope this was helpful

common sense tells us that a 200 lb man that exercises daily needs substantially more water than a 100 lb woman that exercises daily. that being the case the water intake from person to person will vary. a 200 lb athlete who trains 6 days a week in hot and humid Dallas, TX in the middle of the summer will obviously needs more water than a 200 lb couch potato in Bangor, ME in the summer.

the 64 oz a day that is recommended is just a guideline. the key is to not let yourself get dehydrated, once you "feel" thirsty the body is already dehydrated.

There is such a thing as drinking too much water, although it is pretty uncommon. Drinking too much water can cause hyponatremia (not enough salt in your blood) which can result in death. Drinking five liters would probably NOT cause hyponatremia, unless you chugged tons and tons of water at once. The human body can process lots of water in one day, as long as the liters are spread out throughout the day.

Drinking 2.5ltrs of water in a day is a good practice...I drink 2.0ltrs a day and some times 3ltrs in hot summers of Dubai. If u drink 5lts in a day its certainly waste of time and water.
