Here are some clues:

They are the people who wear uniforms, usually blue or black, wear a badge and most of the time carry guns. They on occasion take out some silver bracelets and put them on you.

They usually ride around in vehicles that say police and if you look closely you can see lights on top of the car that flash, especially when you see them in your rear view mirror, right after you have ran that stop sign. Sometimes, unless you are deaf you can hear a siren emitting from the vehicle.
