Most extinguisher companies will re-use the dry chemical. However, if you are cleaning up a discharge, you can simply sweep it up (a shop vac works good) and dispose of it in the trash. It's not toxic.

CO2 is simply "shot-off" and returns to the atmosphere. Contrary to popular belief this does not contribute to global warming as the CO2 was collected from the air with condensers to begin with.

why not recycle it? Any fire ex co will take it
