The term tumor is nothing but growth that is not normal or wanted. The tumour could be a benign growth i.e a simple extra growth which is not cancerous and can be safetly operated and no further advancement of the same would be there. On the other hand some tumours are cancerous in growth that is they rapidly multiply themselves and even if you operate and remove some of these cells could escape and metasize ( spread) to other areas causing pain and death. But as science is developing these days many people are being treated for cancer tumours also by way of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy individually or in combination and most of the people are having a disease free survival for minimum of 5 years and those lucky are surviving for rest of their life.

Our brain contains variety of cells.
When certain of these calls undergo mutation and start multiplying uncontrolled and unnecessarily, they for a mass with affect the function of other adjacent cells.
It's a brain tumour.
It may arise primarily from cells with form brain or may come and settle from tumors from other sites is the body such as lung cancer etc
Not all tumours are cancers. Some are benign i.e do not cause any harm while some are very deletarious to health.
And ofcourse, the cure depends upon whether it's benign or cancerous, small or largely spread, the type of cells involved etc.
