Yes, it does stunt your growth to a certain extent, especially for teenagers.

It’s a myth that youth weight training causes any problems. I know this from my own personal experience and extensive reading on the subject for my sons.

Actually, boys playing, e.g. jumping out of trees, put themselves under far more stress than would occur with adult supervised weight training. By the way, I lifted weights when I was 14 and my brother didn’t – and I’m 1/2 inch taller!

If anyone seriously thinks this is an issue, go out and check the medical studies. You will learn the medical experts find no evidence of any problem.

Here is a discussion of the research on youth weight training by highly accomplished power lifters, coaches, and persons formally educated in exercise science at the masters and Phd. levels.

I started at ten years old, I had an older brother that posed for strength and health mag. It was a big mistake for me , My 3 brothers are 5'10" to 6 ft. I am only 5'7". I was told it's OK to lift after puberty.
I am the same height I was at 13
You should be OK , my brothers started at age 13.
Eat plenty of veggies and take HGH If your Dr. suggest it

Your genes entail the information on how tall your body will grow. However, I believe standing up while lifting heavy weights could hinder height growth so I only lie back on a bench and do presses. Curls and stuff I do while standing up.
