the plastic part is intact but the wire is broken.
Also it's been about 3 weeks since i wore them last so my teeth have shifted.
so can they make a copy of my retainer or do they need to take an imprint of my mouth?

I work in a dental lab and I swear to you we have a good handful of jobs that come in each week where "the dog chewed" the dental appliance. Sorry but most likely you will need new imps, as you have not worn it for 3 weeks & the dog has feasted on it, but no doubt ask the dentist what options you have for repair or replacement.

They may be able to make one on your old models, depends
on how long ago they were made and how much your teeth
have moved. Also, dogs love to play with retainers, it's fun
for them, plus it smells like you, so they like it. You have to
always put it where the dog won't get it--in the case, in a
drawer...

That really sucks. Unfortunately, they'll have to do new impressions, especially since your teeth have moved. And obviously, you'll have to get a new retainer.

they are going ot have to take new impressions to make you a new retainer, and your insurance won't cover this.
