I just thought of something. Aren't Fundies hiding behind their so-called god? Do they think that by declaring it the will of an omnipotent being, that we can't see that it's their lust for power declaring these things? It's probably been said before, what with all these icons being found with kids in naughty ways.

Bingo. It's not just lust for power though, it's also desperate need for love and fear of death.

I do not hide behind God, I am going before Him, declaring the way to eternal life. There is no hunger for power in a true "fundie" who seeks to live according to the word of God. You must watch too much tv. I implore you not to listen to those who have no hope of heaven, and don't want anyone else to either. You are being decieved, and if you continue this way, these words along with others you have heard concerning God and the Way will reverberate in your ears as you stand before the Righteous Judge. Please consider the goodness of God and the provision He has made for you.

Yes, I believe they are. In the same way that they hide behind their God when they threaten people with Hell. They will always make excuses and not take responsibility for their actions. This is, in fact, the main driving force behind various types of religiously-inspired hatred and murder: if you are killing for God, or repent while you are killing, then you are really a "good" person, while the "bad" you killed are going to Hell. But it's okay, because they aren't Christian. We saw the results of this in the Inquisitions.

I do believe that they are hiding behind their view of God.

That it's there way of being able to control their lives - and to an extent some of the world around them.

They see everything in black and white - there is no gray, except where they need it to be. They take the bible to the extreme - unless it is uncomfortable. It helps them to explain why bad things happen - even though they say they worship a loving God. Or why this satan fellow is still allowed to run around.

Paul told them that things of this world, including their bodies and sex, are corrupt. I don't believe they have ever gotten comfortable with the concept or have learned what an ultimate act of ectasy and joy making love can be.

They are promised better things - and believe that they only way to make this happen is to control and pretty much overtake this 'corrupt' world. They are terrified of things, of viewpoints that differ from them. As evident in all the books claiming a one world government, a New Age world take over plan and all other nonsense. It's there way of making it evil, of scaring people, of taking control of something that could possibly be true and challenge their religion.

And yes - they do hide behind their view of God to do all of this.

Squishy, you are just so adorable, I want to pinch your cheeks. We don't have to hide behind God, we are safe in His arms. I don't have any lust for power, I know my place and God's will for me. I think you want to be a fundie too, don't you?
