there's no legal age, just as long as the neighbors want a 13 year old babysitting for them and she's responsible. I started when I was 14 but I think 13 is old enough too.

It depends on how mature they are i'm 18 and know a couple 13 y/o's that want to babysit my 17 month old daughter, one of them i would never leave my daughter a lone with the other one i would...If you decide to let her, make sure she takes a babysitting class, and a cpr class for safety. Yes it is legal for her to babysit too.

I started at 13. Maybe even 12 and a half. It mainly depends on if she is mature enough. It's legal also.
If the neighbors asked her, maybe the mother should give her a trial. Like have the mother doing whatever needs to be done around the house, and she would be there if it was to much for your daughter. If all goes well, let her.
You will be just down the block if something happened.

I use 13 year olds to sit all the time. But there are some 17 year olds I would never use. It's all about the maturity. does you daughter just want to get paid to play, and be able to boast that she babysat? I know some girls like that who I would never hire. But if you feel she could handle an emergency well, and that she will be able to maintain an authoritative relationship rather than a playmate relationship with these children, then it would be ok. YOu might quiz her about emergencies and what she would do before she sits, and perhaps make sure you're home the first few times.

She can't get legal to babysit at that age, but she is a minor, which means she cannot be legally held responsible for the well being of another. There for it's fine, if the legal guardians of the child in question are willing to be responsible for leaving their child in the care of a minor.

Well it certainly is legal. Actually, that's not that true. To be able to obtain working papers you must be fourteen, but the government tends to overlook small business like lawn mowing, babysitting, etc.

If she would like to babysit, let her. Just be sure she knows all the right numbers to call.

A CPR course at the local YMCA or JCC could help also.

If she's responsible enough, I babysat since I was 12 or 13. I'm 19 now, and still do.
