Anyone know what a cat likes chewing wire? I only thought dogs liked doing it. And I have 4 dogs and they don't chew wires.

They chew on it because it smells like you. Buy a spray bottle of "bitter apple" found in the bird isle at Petco, Petsmart or online at a pet dealer. Spray the top of the wire by laying paper towels under it on the floor. One bite and they are outties.
Another good way is as suggested, use a newspaper and scare the holy crap out of them while they are doing it. They might "turn" their backs on you for a couple of days, but fried cat is not on the main menu! *** No, dogs can sense the power in the wires, they don't chew them. (I have 4 dogs that don't even know the wires exist in my house)
Good Luck!

Maybe he is teething if he's young or he is very bored. Tape all of the wires down on the carpet with duct tape and keep all other wires like headphones out of reach when not in use. Provide him amusing toys and chewing toys so he will stay busy. Pet stores even sell cat chewing bones/sticks so you may try that too. If he still chew on wires you can hiss at him. It's a universal sound of danger or disapproval so he'd understand. Then toss him some toys or chewing bones so he'd get distracted.

Ha ha, cats are so cute, but they do some unsafe things. Try one of these four things:

(1) easiest is to hide to wires.
(2) use spritz training, when the cat does something like that, spritz him/her with water and say firmly 'no'
(2) put something bitter on the wires, that would disgust the cat's taste
(3) pet stores often have sprays, you can spray on couches, wires, etc, the cat won't go near it...

Just keep the cat safe :)

Put something distasteful on the cord to discourage chewing. Substances to try: tabasco sauce, cayenne pepper, Bitter Apple/Orange, nail-biting nailpolish, orange/lemon peel. One taste of something truly offensive to the cat and he will be cured of chewing on crds for life!

If you cannot find a substance that will repel your cat, you may wish to use gaffer's tape to secure exposed cords.Gaffer's tape comes in a variety of colors and you will probably be able to find something relatively inconspicuous. (Duct tape can also be used, but it's pretty messy and hard to clean up if you're moving out of an apartment. Consider permanent wiring if you own your place: installment behind walls, etc.

Cats supposedly do not like the taste or smell of citrus fruit. Perhaps you could just smear a tad bit of lemon juice on the wires. Good Luck

They have some split tubing that looks kind of like a bendable plastic tube, that you can put over the wires to keep the cat from your wires.

put some vinegar or tobasco sauce in a spray bottle or even just buy some bitter apple spray at the store and they should work. I guess everyone and every pet has their own tastes lol.

Check your hardware stores, they should have some type of "covering" for your wires.

Follow these steps...
1. open cage door
2. put cat in cage
3. close cage door
4. pick up cage and shake it (2-4 minutes is normally long enough but use your own disgression)
5. release cat from cage
If problems continue repeat as many times as necessary
