I have a friend who wants to meet her boyfriend (who is in the navy) halfway...however, she's having a hard time. Is there any online service that helps calculate the distance and time between two points to find a halfway point?

How do you use Yahoo! Maps for this? I tried looking for an option, but couldn't find one. She's in Ohio and he's in Virginia.

Use yahoo maps to calculate the driving distance between their cities in Ohio & Virginia. Divide by half and then look for a city within that distance. Also, you can roughly visually tell from the map what is the "half way" point. Yahoo maps "highlights" the driving road between the 2 points so it's easy to spot out.
