weight loss = calories in - calories out.
consume less than you spend.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400 calories off that number and thats how much you need to lose weight.
you also have to do cardio 4-5 times a week for 30-50min.

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

Also start counting your calories. Write them down. You would be amazed as to how much more aware you are of your caloric intake, if you actually write it down. We recently discovered a site that offers a great program that counts calories, as well as keeps track of everything. It allows multiple users, so everyone in the family can keep track. They offer a free 7 day trial, and so far I am very impressed with the product. Try the 7 days and see. It allows you to add the exercise that you do during the day, which increases the amount of calories you can take in. Very Cool!!

I suggest that you try body cleansing. I tried it and really got lean quickly. I lost 15 pounds in 9 days and also 3 inches off my waist. I do body sculpting so getting leaner was my goal. My sister did this program too and she lost a lot of weight quickly. I did not know too much about cleansing but there are a lot of TV commercials about this stuff. This is a body cleanse and not just a colon cleanse, I wanted my body to get lean quickly and this did the trick! I can tell you what I've been doing and it's been working. I don't count my calories like most people or worry about what I eat. I eat my three meals a day and maybe a snack. What I do is, every other night, I work out. I take breaks in between and drink so water to rest. Now, instead of drinking soda, drink water. Water is the best drink to rinse your system and it's healthier for you. Don't cut out all junk food, you can have junk food for your snacks but don't eat too much of it. Eat healthier meals, like have a variety of different foods (veggies, fruits, meats, etc..) that way you're meals are balanced without worrying about calories. Don't over exercise and don't think you can exercise more and eat less, that will only damage your body. You have to eat healthier AND exercise every other day to maintain what you're trying to do. I hope I've helped.
