Me and my husband live in a one bedroom flat. Its in a great position, its huge (the bedroom is big enough for a king size bed, 2 closets, a tallboy, bassinet and cot with plenty of room left over) its really lovely and very cheap. The baby is due in 2 weeks and I am a little concerned that we are going to need a second bedroom, we have been asked to sign a lease for another 6 months. Does anyone live in a 1 bedroom place and how difficult is it?

Baby due in two weeks, so it's not really a good time to move. But that baby won't stay small long.

Renew the lease for no more than six months. During that time, look for a larger place. Baby will need room to play and crawl(walk later) around.

You can make one bedroom last for a short time, but don't drag it out too long.

You and your husband need your privacy when the baby starts getting old enough to walk.

Best Wishes.

We shared a room with our baby for 1 year. It worked out pretty well. The only time it stinks is when you want to take a nap and the baby needs to come in and sleep or if you guys will have opposite schedules. I wouldn't recommend moving so close to having the baby because you will be busy and tired enough!!! Congrats on your baby!!

Hi,
We spent ages preparing the "babies room" prior to the birth of our first child.

When that little bundle of joy comes along... you are going to be feeding, burping, bathing, and loving it.

we soon discovered that meant, for us, that instead of baby being in his own room, he would sleep in a basinet positioned next to our bed... "so it was easier to care for him". Of course, it was easier on us as we didn't really have to get far out of bed.

There are few things worse in terms of having a good night sleep than hearing your unsettled baby and then having to get out of bed, walk down the hall... try and calm it, get half way back to bed, turn back around... you get the picture. It's convenient. (and so is breast feeding.. you shouldn't have to get out of bed to go and warm anything)

After the second one is born, you should consider moving.

your baby can stay in your bedrm or the living rm and you can save some money or the next 6 months before you go...
