Today, my friend gave me an oldish Conair CB600 straightener. I have never used a straightener before, how can I know when it is hot enough to straighten my hair?

Well my straightener beeps when its ready. But if yours is oldish, it probably won't beep. =[ Also, if it's an old straightener, it will take awhile to heat up. I'd say turn it on and wait about 10 minutes, it should be fully heated by then.

With mine, I just hold my hand a few inches over the straightener and if I feel the heat coming off and if it feels really warm, I use it. Good luck.

touch it and see if it burns your hand..lol...just kidding

leave it plugged in for like 10 minutes and test it on your hair to see if it starts straightening it
