GoogleEarthed the Loch Raven Blvd. and Taylor AveLoch address....looks like it's called Crackpot Seafood. We're coming in from DC for a ballgame so it's a bit out of the way.

Lexington Market, without a doubt! It's not in the best neighborhood, but there's on-site parking, so it's not like you'll have to walk far. Once you're inside, you can find a little of anything, so it's easy to please everyone in the family. My parents used to take my sister and I there when we were kids as a treat, usually after going to an O's game. When I grew up and started working in Baltimore, my first trip back into Lexington Market for lunch was such a stroll down memory lane.

Another good place for seafood, although a bit on the pricey side, is the Rusty Skupper, on Key Hwy, at the base of Federal Hill.

Bon apetit!

Baltimore Best Seafood

Both Philips and Rusty Scupper are expensive. Philips does not serve high quality seafood.

Lexington Market closes at 4 PM on weekdays and remains closed on weekends. Faidley's is the recommended place but only when it's open.

A lot of mom and pop seafood restaurants went under due to rising seafood prices. I recommend a place which is located at the corner of Loch Raven Blvd. and Taylor Ave. The place is next to Giant Food and the name of the place evades me at the moment. Another place I can definitely recommend is Jimmy's Seafood on Holabird Ave. You will receive a lot of food at Jimmy's - much more than Philips or Rusty Scupper.

{EDIT} Downtown Baltimore has become so touristy that the local seafood houses have been pushed out. There's O'Bryckis on Pratt St. about 15 blocks east of the Harbor. If you're constrained to the area surrounding Camden Yards, your options are limited. I can suggest G&M Restaurant which is near the W. Nursery Rd. exit of the B-W parkway. I can also suggest the Timbuktu restaurant which is off MD 100.

In truth I really don't know of any all around great seafood restaurants in Baltimore that do everything well. Phillips and the Rusty Scupper are good for their variety but I agree with Bob that Phillips doesn't serve the highest quality seafood.

Some places just do fish well, others do crabs. If crabs are what you seek I'd recommend Mr Bill's on Eastern Avenue. They've usually got nice heavy crabs that are well seasoned in a nice clean atmosphere (alot of great crabhouses are not the most sanitary!)

In my experiences all of the best seafood I've had has come from the east side of town, most notably the places off of Eastern Ave or near Middle River.

If you are visiting, I suggest Phillips in the inner harbour. They have a wide range of options and are consistantly good. It's a local chain, with locations in DC, Baltimore, and Annapolis. Prices are a bit high, but it's hard to find cheap lobsters.

There are a couple neat seafood shacks just off the 695 north of town, but they are really hit and miss - you really need to go with a local who knows what they are getting into.

I also recommend Lexington Market. Don't do Phillips if you want "real" Maryland crab. They don't serve it - their blue crab comes from Thailand and other places in southeast Asia.
