I had my wisdom teeth pulled yesterday and I have been extremely swollen since about 3:30 pm yesterday. I still have to go to school next week and I also have very very very important things to do. I was just wondering when the swelling will go down, or ways to make it go down faster?

I've used ice packs and they don't have any effect other than making me cold and angry.

plz be sure to gargle with warm salt water at least 5 times a day...this will reduce the swelling significantly. Also be sure to take your ibuprofen often.

The first day or two, use cold packs and take the prescriptions as directed. After about 4 days swelling usually starts to go down. Not much can be done to heal faster.
The pain pills often help with the swelling, so follow doctor's orders even if the pain is going away.

You have to give your body time to heal itself. It doesn't care about your schedule. The most important part about getting the swelling down is to apply ice externally (to the cheeks) in 20 min, intervals immediately after the extraction was done. It's been over a day now, and wouldn't do much good. I bought myself liquid concentrated chamomille. Put a couple of teaspoons into warm water and rinse gently, not to dislodge any packing you may have in your gums. Alternate that with rinsing with salt water. Again, very gently. Take Motrin or whatever the dentist recommended for you. This will help with the inflammation. The mouth is very vasculated and generally heals fairly quick. For the swelling to be completely gone it will be a few more days, each day getting better. Stressing out over it will only slow down healing. Rest as much as you can and suck on ice chips. Take multi vitamins, esp. with Vit. E.
I do wish you a quick recovery. I've had dental surgery done and it's no fun.
