I have had blood in my stool for over a year and a half now, I am in the military and have gone to the doctor about 2 years ago for a colonoscopy and they found nothing but told me i have some Hemorrhoids, they gave me some stuff to put in my water and sent me on my way. i went in about 3 months later complaining about the same thing and they did another quick check of my colon and said nothing was wrong. now it has been about a year and a half and i have been bleeding about 3 times a weeks, sometimes more when i use the bathroom. all bright red color blood.I know i should go to medical again but just hate the routine two finger check they seem to do everytime. could it just be the Hemorrhoids ?

your symptoms are very typical of hemorrhoids or fissures in the rectum. The best way to stop the bleeding is to use preparation H suppositories as they take down the inflammation causing the bleeding. Also it's critical that you use a powdered fiber supplement once in the morning and once in the evening. Constipation or hard bowel movements can tear the delicate tissues in the rectum resulting in the bleeding .

try this and see if it helps. You could see another doctor for a second opinion.

As long as the blood is when you wipe, and not throughout your bowel movements, it's hemmorrhoids or rectal fissures, as someone else mentioned. I have a similiar problem from time to time. Preparation H does wonders, and will work nicely. I also recommend, if your stools are hard, then drink some apple juice every day.

Fiber supplements are good, but they don't soften stools, so they can make the problem worse. If it does not go away after a week of applying the cream and drinking apple juice, then I would go to another doctor. However, I'm sure you'll be fine.

more than likely when there is bright red blood this is more than usually hemorrhoids but it could also be other internal problems if you notice that after eating seeds nuts or corn this could be diverticulitis the foods are getting stuck in small outlining pouches and can cause some bleeding and if they are close to the anus this can cause some bright red bleeding also you need to see a specialist about the problem you shouldn't be bleeding 3 times a week.

I have had the same problem off and on for years. Apple juice with two capfuls of apple cider vinegar works wonders.
