A teen age girl called me this morning , she had just gotten in an accident on the way to school , was crying & felt so sad . I hurt so much for her .
Please drive safe & watch the other drivers , we've lost enough teens . It isn't always the falt of the teens that cause our teens to get hurt & worse

What do you think ?

Well Happy, thank God she was okay enough to call you, huh?

It's sad when people don't walk away, no matter what their age.

Yes, it's true teens can lack experience, as others have stated. I don't think raising the age limit would help too much either as then the age of inexperienced drivers would simply go up.

The answer may lie in more restrictive driving training and testing. If you had to spend a little more time behind the wheel, under supervision, then your experience would increase.

Mainly, I think people just need to learn to slow down a little, learn some patience, and realize that driving is a co-operative effort with everyone else on the road and not a competition as many seem to drive that way.

God Bless.

There are so many people out there who cause accidents without knowing it. Switching lanes without signaling, talking on the cell phone, following too close to the car in front of you, etc. These are not teen driver-specific. It's easy to say teens cause accidents because they don't know how to drive. Maybe so, but it's a fraction of the other causes of accidents. Everyone behind the wheel need to be alert and careful. Drive defensively and be courteous. Just remember the last time someone let you in front of them during traffic. One nice gesture from a stranger should be passed on to another.

Usually teens have raging hormones that would cause them to do reckless things. Race, drink driving, and of course distractions.

Locking them up is not a good alternative, its better to educate them about the risk involves. Alternatively, a stricter passing mark for driver's Ed?

Cheers

Everyone has to learn how to drive sometime. If teens didn't learn to drive as teenagers, you'd have 20 somethings making the same mistakes. I don't have kids though, so I don't really think about this much.

Teenagers tend to believe they are immortal, and take chances behind the wheel. They don't realize that increased speed makes for higher impact, more injury or worse.

Some girl that you don't know called you to tell you that? WHY?

NOTE: teens rarely tell the facts in situations like this. It's always "the OTHER guy's fault"

There are lots of really bad drivers out there, but teens are notoriously bad, mostly because of inexperience.
