Before the arrival of the prophet muhammad(pbuh) unto the glorious lord he gave a warning. He said that if islam does not choose one caliph(leader) to become the leader of the religion of islam there will be great mischief, wars, calamity, disbelief, etc. That warning was not taken heed to and his word came to life. The only thing that keeps people one ummah is the quran by the graces of allah. PEACE!

all religions split
christianity came from the jewish religion
both sikhism and buddhism broke away from hinduism
as time goes by the bigger sects end up becoming whole new religions
how often do you see differents sects of christianity for example say mormons or catholics are not real christians

Yes, it's always invitable when it comes to man and his Ego.
Some take the better parts of the philosophy and walk off with them and live
Some use other parts of the philosophy to advance themselves and dominate

Because it is a man made belief that will twist God's word to their own liking rather than obeying God's word alone.

Mohammed (may God be pleased with him) said it would happen,
although it is suppossed to be forbidden in Islam for us to divide---
he still said it would happen, and he explained the division in detail.
