I'm always reading and hearing how a person shouldn't be in a relationship if they are not a complete person. But I think I'm not a complete person unless I have someone to love in my life. It seems selfish to think that we are perfectly fine without other people in our lives, otherwise we wouldn't need them there. It reminds me of an attitude I read on SoSouve.com about being a Don Juan personality: you should never need somebody only want someone. I don't think I'm a whole person but I'm going for a relationship anyway, I can't waite for this magical self awakening to happen, I'm lonely.
Any advice on this?

imo the thing about being complete by yourself is complete nonsense (probably made up as a consolation for lonely singles). People are not meant to be by themselves. It is natural that you don't feel complete. In order to enjoy life, one needs to share it with others, and the best way to share it is in a relationship. Most people need to love and to be loved. There are some that are not loved and live, but their lives are not complete. Fictional characters like Don Juan or James Bond would really be tragic figures in real life, pursuing superficial relationship without ever knowing true love.

i know what you mean...i hear people say that you should only be in a serious relationship with someone if you can be alone and happy at the same time. but i think a lot of people feel like something is missing if they arent with someone they care about. there is nothing wrong with wanting be love someone and be loved in return. i hope you find that special somone youre looking for. goodluck!

It seems that you answered your question already. You should listen to what your feelings tell you. Some people need to feel love more than others (or at least more than others will admit). It's absolutely true. Romantic relationships should be what you add (by choice) to what you already have. Everyone needs some semblance of a social life, but having a girl/boyfriend isn't mandatory.

Being whole does not mean having someone in your life, that is an extra that makes us feel even better. Being whole means being happy with who you are and really liking yourself. But hey, if being whole to you means you have someone in your life, then find that someone that makes you whole and enjoy your life.
