I had a container in the ice box for about two weeks and the date past but it was still good to me.It was only the store band name if that means anything.

There should be an expiry date on the packet.

Christmas time is a long time ago, i wouldn't eat it.

no longer than about week and a half, just don't let it rotten, because mold gets everywhere in the sour cream, and the worst part it stinks!

if kept cold, it's safe two to three weeks after the "sell-by" date. It's not going to harm you though, unless there's mold or odd colors in it.
But, i wouldnt risk it if you've had it since Christmas.
Maybe you can serve it to annoying house-guests on tacos, and use them as guinea pigs.

isn't there a sell by date? i wouldn't go too much further than that date, i only know it's bad when it gets all liquidy on the top.
