My boyfriend caught scabies and has a mild breakout of it, I don't have any breakouts as of yet, however I just want to know if a doctor would prescribe medicine to someone that hasn't had a breakout, but sleeps with the person who does and has had it for a few weeks now? And if so, would it work if I used it BEFORE Getting A Breakout of it??

YOU NEED TO SEE AN DOCTOR>
Scabies is EXTREMELY contagious.
Yes, you should be taking the meds also.

Unless your boyfriend is also treated, using a medication preventively will not work. He also needs to have treatment, and all bedding needs to be washed and put in a hot dryer. You should also iron the seams open in pillow cases and the like to make certain you find and eliminate all those little buggers.

You can get a cream from the doctor, maybe even at the pharmacy without a prescription. It is not bad to use. Rub on for 12 hours, shower off, leave off for 12 hours, then repeat the process. The cream is not greasy nor gross. Without treatment, the itching becomes unbearable, and you will notice red streaks across your skin where these parasites are burrowing beneath your skin.

Again, both of you get treated. I had them twice, as I worked in a place where we dealt with a lot of children. The itching may continue even after the scabies are gone, because your skin will be irritated. Lubriderm or some other moisturising cream will help. Get treatment. Without it, it will only get worse. Generally scabies do not go above the neck, but they like it in protected folds of the skin like under your breasts and between your fingers and toes. Good luck.

Be very careful.. scabies will get into your bedding and anything he sits on.. hold off contact until he is finished his treatment, and really clean your place. You may even need to boil the sheets in hot water.. it's no joke.. they are persistent little buggers.

I don't know if your doc will prescribe it before you show symptoms, but he may. If he does, it'll be a cream (a pesticide) that you'll rub all over your body, from the neck down, right before bed. It stays on for 8 hours, then you'll need to wash it off (don't put any on your face). The important thing is to wash all of your bedding, towels, clothes, etc after each treatment of the med. They're a pain to get rid of, but an even worse pain to have...trust me!

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

Scabies is contagious. You should see your Dr. and find out the right thing to
do. Good luck and hope that you don't get it. I've heard it's terrible stuff.

Yes you should definately get treated also! If you do have any of those critters on you, say eggs, you won't know it yet and getting treated before they decide to hatch munch on your skin is the best deal. good luck!
