Wikipedia states that they are more expensive in North America than in most of the world - here in Australia they are quite costly, so I was interested in a comparison. I am also under the impression that they are not cheap in most of Europe, as they can only be grown in select areas, so must be imported. The Wiki article is unreferenced...

The two local grocery store chains in my area (Georgia, USA) are Kroger and Publix. They (of course) have competing sales every week, and avocados are usually 10 for $10 US (or 10 for $12.83 Australian dollars).

The average cost of a avocados in North America is About $1.00.If were Lucky we get them on sale for about 2 for $1.

I paid $1.99 each in usa. But that was two years ago, and maybe off season. Usually they are around a dollar each.
