Hell, as in the place of fiery torment where the wicked go, has it's origins in Greek mythology. The greek word for Hell is Hades... ya know as in Hades, God of the Underworld. Sheol is the Hebrew word.

Hell is mankind's common grave. It's why King Solomon said in Ecclesiastes chapter 9:10 "All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in She´ol, the place to which you are going." The Apostle Paul at Ezekiel 18:4 said "the soul that is sinning it itself will die."

Have you ever been spelunking? Exploring caves?
Do you know what total isolation is?
Do you enjoy talking?

One possible description of hell:

One will be totally isolated from everything one ever knew.
One will be unable to call out for mercy or anything else.
One will be surrounded in total darkness.
The last thing One will remember ...
is who One was dis-obedient to. <--- The Why!
One then can only weep and mourn.
One then can only grind One's teeth.

One will have burned into One's consciousness the forsaking of the True Creator and Saviour, therefore the worm will never die, always gnawing at the One's conscious for eternity with the burning desire to be forgiven.

The nature of hell in the Bible is indicated by the repeated reference to:
- eternal punishment (Matthew 25,46)
- eternal fire (Matthew 18,8; Jude 7)
- everlasting chains (Jude 6)
- the pit of the Abyss (Revelation 9,2.11)
- outer darkness (Matthew 8,12)
- the wrath of God (Romans 2,5)
- second death (Revelation 21,8)
- eternal destruction from from the face of God (2 Thessalonians 1,9)
- eternal sin (Mark 3,29)

My personal image of hell is eternal unhappiness as opposed to the eternal bliss in heaven.
Peace and every blessing!

I always imagined Hell would be a place where you were denied everything that you enjoyed here on earth. Example, if food was your pleasure, then your favorite food would be placed in front of you, and you would not get to eat any of it.
If your favorite thing was sex, then you would be teased with it, but would never get to experience it. So another words, whatever your favorite things here on earth, it would be turned against you in Hell.

i believe hell is death; no conciousness, nothing, long gone forever, never even thought of again, etc. I could never believe in torment for the unsaved. in spite of all of the arguments for it, ultimately it would be God who put them there and is torturing them(little kids, old women). the bible says DEATH. Eternal seperation means death, not fire. I dont love that God.
