Try airtran.com and delta airlines. Both use Atlanta as a hub and should have good fares from NYC.

AirTran is based out of Atlanta. Orbitz will show you all the flights on that date from different airlines and the prices for them.

renting a car,
driving non-stop and
splitting the expenses.
