ok, im in high school, and there is this girl that i like, and she is in the 10th grade and she has been going out with a senior for a while, and everyday in the hall way i see them walking together. But not as of late, and i now the guy and he has been talking with other girls, but i dont know if they broke up. Anyways, when i got to 1 st period i see her and she always looks at me and then smiles, and one time i looked back and she was looking at my back if you now what i mean. I like her, but i dont want to go ask her out if she is still goin with that guy, what should i do?

Look for a good opportunity to start up a casual conversation with her. Do you have any classes together or lunch periods? If not, create a situation that'll give you the chance to talk. As a guy, starting anything with a girl is a bit more "normal". She obviously doesn't despise your existence, so don't be shy. She's also most likely broken up with her guy. He's about to go to college and there'll be more girls for him when he's gone. So I wouldn't be surprised if they've broken up. While talking to her, casually mention (in an assuming manner) her having a boyfriend. If she says she doesn't have one, BINGO! Thus the start of a beautiful relationship.
Ok, that's kinda long. Here's my suggestion in short:
1) Talk to her casually
2) When conversation gets cozy, mention her boyfriend
3) Whether she has one or not, befriend her

Ask her if she is still with him. If she says no ask if she'd care to grab a hamburger and hang out sometime. If she seems like she wants to ask for her phone number. That's not hard, huh?

Start polite conversation first. Then bring it to the subject of significant others. If she's still going out with him, tell her she needs to check her man. If she isn't going out with him anymore, there's your chance! Good luck!

ask one of her friends if those two are still dating. try and feel out the situation, if she is taking it hard then dont move in to fast, but if she is over him then you can make the move
