Caring.......Understanding......and Patience.... Bipolar doesn't mean that the child is not bright or lazy and can't be taught. Bipolar is a chemical disorder in your brain that effects your moods. Patience is the biggest key to teaching your child and always keeping in mind that your child is hurting sometimes inside and its overwhelming to them. Also, over-due praise and things that will make them feel good about themselves. These children beat up on themselves enough that they need extra boosting and encouragement. Good Luck!

With a lot of patience. The child will learn, just maybe not the same way as other kids.
I have a sister who is bipolar and has been all her life. What worked best for her was letting her decide teaching methods. By that I mean, try different things. If it works, stick with it, if it doesn't, try something else. With some kids manipulative's are best, some can't figure them out at all. My sister had ADHD too and what worked best for her was to let her walk around with the book and make her own notes on how to do things like multiplying in math. Other subjects required different tactics. It really depends on what the specific manifestations are for this child. Identify other learning problems and deal with the needs of the child according to suggestions for those learning issues.
The biggest problem with bipolar children is that the disorder manifests differently in most children and there is no hard and fast rule for dealing with their problems, except to be understanding and patient.

Like any other child.
Any child who has a disability should be under the care of a qualified doctor.
