No, no, and no! A rosary is NOT jewelry! This is a horrible trend -- I see it more and more. I am a teacher and many grade-school boys have begun to come in with rosaries around their necks -- I make them take them off. I can't imagine what their parents are thinking -- a rosary is a religious item, meant for prayer, not to decorate the body. It's perfectly suitable for a man to wear a cross around his neck if he chooses, if it's a cross that is jewelry, and not a rosary.

If they wear it devoutly and not as a fashion accessory I dont see why not. What would be more pleasing to God would be to pray the Rosary daily. Rather than a Rosary it would be better to wear a Brown Scapular of Carmel, blessed by a priest round one's neck and under the clothing.

I don't see why they shouldn't wear rosaries around their necks. I think they can wear rosaries if they are not ashame of it because if they are, why believe in God if they can't wear it?

Can people - Yes. People are free to do as they want.

Would it be respectful - No. A Rosary is NOT jewelery. There are other religious items that are made to be worn, that are just as or more significant.

CAN they? As long as their necks measure less than 46" around.

SHOULD they? Nobody ought to.

Poor Tribble.... In the last five minutes, I've seen him have 3 good answers that get "thumbs down" - why is that?

sure why not. Spanish people do all the time of course, it would be much better to pray it than wear it because it is not jewelry.
