Are athiest glass half empty people?

Question

You see a glass on a table,it has exactly half the amount of liquid the glass is able to hold;is it half empty or half full?Please try and explain your reasoning?

Not necessarily. I think it really depends on the person, just like any other group or culture. I happen to think people make their own destinies and that people are mostly responsible for the good and bad that happens, or the consequences or lack thereof of the things that go on around them. To me, that's a good thing and puts a lot of "faith" in humanity and the power we have and can potentially have.

Perhaps many athiests are cynical - I think what draws certain people to athiesm is an unwillingness to simply conform and a need to question conventional wisdom, traditions and practice. Of course, most christians are going to think athiests are "bad" for not believing in what they believe and that there's something wrong with them, or that they'll go to hell or live in sin simply for not believing what they believe. To me, that's pretty negative and narrow-minded.

So which group here is half empty/half full? The group that believes in the power of humanity to control their own lives and the universe they live in, or the people who think they are powerless in the universe and that some outside force or being is pulling the strings, and that without this outside force humans are nothing more than animals?

If the glass was empty and someone put enough water in it to reach half-way, then the glass is half full.

If the glass was full and someone drank half of it then stopped, then the glass is half-empty.

If I don't know which of the two scenarios is true, then it's a half-glass of water until I have proof one way or another.

I'm sure some of them are. There are Christians that are just as pessimistic as an atheist, or Muslim, or whatever other religion or belief system you can think of. Just because Atheists don't believe in God doesn't mean they aren't happy, fulfilled people. I personally am a glass half full type of gal.

I consider myself more optimistic than most Christians, because I believe in the perfectibility of man, and we will eventually abandon gods and religions and realize scientific knowledge will be our true salvation. All I ever hear from Christians is how the world is ending, or how we don't need to preserve our resources because "Jesus is coming soon to call home the righteous." If that's what you want to believe, fine, but don't work so hard to elect politicians who think the same. Only about 7% of the earth's population is Christian, and the other 93% deserve a better deal.

I'm definitely "glass half full". I've always been a happy, cheerful person. I completely believe in living for tomorrow, not for the after life, and I intend to follow that philosophy for the rest of my life so that I can truly rest in peace.

It depends on the state of the glass prior to the liquid reaching half way. I am prone to think the glass is half full.

I've pretty much always seen the glass as half-full. I am the eternal optimist who rarely takes off her rose-colored glasses. I wasn't always an atheist. It was during my time as a Christian that I was miserable, pessimistic, and depressed.

glass is full baby!! Beside the believers are always worried about going to hell, so I say believers are half glass empty people.

it is half full for a usuall atheist.that's why most atheists are still trying to make it full while theists have given up waiting for their gods to take them away from the half empty problem
