I was born in St.Vincent & the Grenadines in 1950 and moved to England in 1964. I emigrated to Canada in 1967 and became a Canadian citizen in 1973. My British Passport was issued in 1965 by the High Commission in England and was renewed in 1970 by the High Commission in Ottawa. My nationality was listed as British Subject & Citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies.
St. Vincent became independent on October 27, 1979.

What is my status in the UK now?

You probably have duel citizenship. You should contact the immigration department there and find out.

Yes, you have the right to a Brittish passport and provided you didn't denounce your citizenship you are from a legal point, still a Brittish citizen.

I understand if you have any children, they are also able to become a Brittish citizen - no questions asked.

You are still a legal UK citizen, unless you have ever received a letter from the UK government telling you otherwise and unless you have ever revoked your UK citizenship. You have dual citizenship.
