Hey,
I don't think liking someone is a bad thing. If you are able to like someone who doesn't care for you, it shows a strong and caring character that should make you proud.
I wouldn't recommend throwing yourself at his feet or anything but maybe you could send out some feelers and see if there's any interest. How do you feel about doing something that would let him know that you're open to talk?

No its not bad, it just means that you have and will possibly always have feeling or a place in your heart for him. Hell I liked this girl so damn much that I got a tattoo that would always remind me of her. I will always care about her and like her, and yeah love her. And she feels the same way, just in a friends only way, but I am satisfied with that as well. And atleast I got a bad *** tattoo out of my feelings toward her.
