You have to NOT cut it! Trimming your hair doesn't make it grow! It's not like pruning a rose bush y'know!
What you do to the hair that is on the outside of your scalp absolutely cannot effect the growth of your hair. The roots of your hair are where growth takes place. Hair growth can be encouraged by getting the right nutrients into your body and also by increasing the blood-flow to your scalp (and therefore the roots of your hair) through massage, that's about all you can do though. It took me 2 and a half years to grow my hair from shoulder length down to my bra clasp. It takes a long time so be patient!!!
The best book on hair in the world is by Philip Kinsgley and it's called Hair: An Owner's Handbook

As I am sure you have heard, if you cut your hair frequently, your hair will grow in faster, longer, and healthier... NO!!! NOT TRUE!!! Cutting your hair only makes it shorter! Only trim your hair if you have split ends or damage otherwise leave it alone! Take a vitamin with biotin and zinc like 'one a day' or even 'flinstones.' Don't over brush your hair. Don't use shampoos and conditioners with 'ammonium laurel sulfate' because it will dry out your hair and it will break. Good luck! : )

Whatever you do don't trim it, believe me it dosen't work!
Just comb it twice a day or whenever it gets messed up.
Use the rush sparingly, mainly for styling...
Shampoo your hair frequently depending on your hair style or texture, use lots of conditioner!
Sleep with your hair tied back in a pony tail or bun.
Don't wear tight bands and use harsh chemicals on your hair...
Also letting it dry naturally can really help your hair, instead of blow drying it.....heat can really mess your hair up! Try to avoid lots of excess heat!
Hopefully for some months or years(depending on how your hair grows) you should start seeing some difference...just make sure to take care of your hair routinely!!!
Hopefully these tips will help :)

Getting pregnant has increased the speed of my hair growth but that is a bit long term. I have been told that prenatal vitamins work since they have tons more vitamins in them than most multivitamins. They are safe to take if you aren't pregnant either and they can be bought over the counter.

I Had my hair braided up under a "sew in" for a few months....It grew 5- 6 inches. May not work on your hair though depending on the kind of hair you have. My hair broke off eaisly so the braids and "hair cover" protected it.
Take lot's of Vitamin A and E also.

it takes a lot of patience. :) my sisters hair hangs well passed her knees. she has it trimmed monthly and every night before she goes to bed she takes a shower and puts her hair in a braid. she has always claimed that leaving her hair wet longer helps it grow. and seeing the results i would have to agree.

If you have curly hair or wavy hair you could try straightening it to make it longer but if you have strait hair already you might want to ask your barber or search the web for something.
